Sradha Organic Square – Opening

“There is music everywhere on earth, if only we listen carefully…”
With these simple words written on the wall, Sradha Organic Square begins its journey.

A Beginning in the Heart of the City

Sradha Organic Square is located in the heart of Thrissur city. We know that the COVID pandemic has not completely passed. We decided not to wait for a time when everything becomes perfectly safe. Instead, we chose to move forward with care, caution, and responsibility.

A quote by Rumi shines here:
“Lovely days don’t come to you; you should walk to them.”

More Than a Store — A Listening Hub

Sradha Organic Square is at once a store and a listening hub that cools and comforts those who come with love. It is an eco-friendly shop offering toxin-free organic products — from homemade tooth powder to tea, coffee, honey, coconut oil, and grains. There are around fifty products, including drinks and body applications made from flowers. These are simple steps toward a clean and pure Malayali way of life.

Quality organic products are supplied by Srothas Organics, which has been successfully operating in Kottayam. Every Wednesday, there is also a local farmers’ market offering pesticide-free fruits and vegetables.

A Space for Books, Art, and Craft

Sradha is also a bookstore. It houses a fine collection of books in English and Malayalam. Most of the published works of Osho are available. Books by Bobby Jose Kattikad and Theo are also present. Publications from Pranatha and other parallel publishers, along with a selection of world classics, are available. There is also a small space to sit, read, and take notes.

Visitors can see and buy paintings and sculptures by notable artists. Sradha is also a small wonder space of handicrafts — handmade creations in clay, wood, bamboo, and metal by rural artisans from different regions, ranging from toys to daily-use items. There is also a stationery section for students.

A Courtyard of Conversations

In Sradha’s small courtyard, weekends will host conversations, discussions, readings, and Artist Café gatherings — warm embraces of friendship. It is a place to sip black coffee, to speak, to listen, and to rest for a while. A place for words left unspoken and music waiting to be heard.

“The earth has music for those who listen.”

Sradha holds close to its heart the diamond-sharp words of Fyodor Dostoevsky:
“Beauty will save the world.”
Listen to the silenced voices.

A Dream Led by Youth and Friendship

Sradha is brought to life by the energy of youth in their twenties, led by Swatilekha Thambi, along with many friends — a celebration of friendship. “Journey begins with dreams” is their hope. Under the leadership of Rosy Thambi, there is also a strong collective of women entrepreneurs supporting this venture.

Sradha Organic Square is located near Vadakkechira Bus Hub, in front of Bhima Jewellery, Thrissur. The inauguration was held on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at 10 AM, with the ceremonial lamp lit by Bobby Jose Kattikad. Many friends witnessed the occasion. Jayaraj Puthumadam shared warm words and paintings.

A Space of Care, Compassion, and Hope

Everyone is lovingly invited to become regular visitors and active participants. We wish to create a cool, nurturing ecosystem in the busy life of the city.

Sradha Organic Square strives to become a space that sows the seeds of organic dreams along with organic products.

When Bobby Achan blessed the small, fragrant room of Sradha, he said it should be like the Upper Room of Jesus — a space of compassion, humility, and care. A place always filled with tenderness and grace. Whatever we do, it must come from the heart.

Friends also shared another thought: In the rush of city life, Sradha should become a cooling shade — an ecosystem that nurtures and refreshes. There is a thirst within everyone, and water must flow toward that thirst.

Many people came, bought honey, tea, and flower-based drinks. Some bought paintings and books. More than anything, memories and dreams that never grow old were shared.

It is a great joy that a new generation is coming to listen and to speak. Slowly, Sradha is expected to grow into a listening hub.

This hope itself is precious.

The Gold of Hope and Friendship

The leadership of Sradha rests with youth in their twenties. They are writing the notebook of their twenties, while we stand aside and watch with joy. Saplings of golden shower trees were gifted to visitors.

Sradha stands in front of Bhima Jewellery. Bhima sells gold — and so does Sradha.
The gold of hope and friendship.

Come when the rush subsides.
